Message : I’m finally graduating at the end of this summer with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. IBM recently hired me for a job in Research Triangle Park North Carolina that I’m really excited about. My first team project will be car related. We’re designing a car computer with GPS and some other goodies. We will also build the 2nd revision of a military laptop used for programming F15 fighter planes. IBM really does a lot of cool stuff. During my 6-month co-op with them in Minnesota, I worked on the Sony Play Station III microprocessor. I even got to play the pre-release xbox 360 prototype in the testing lab.

The Triangle area is gorgeous too. I had a number of other job offers in other states that I threw out the window once I was flown out for an interview and I saw how beautiful the Triangle area is. Here is a little sample below. This is definitely the place to be for those who like trees. With three college towns, there is no shortage of things to do either.

The only thing that has me worried is the emissions testing. Here in Ohio we don’t do that, so it doesn’t matter that my car has gutted pre and main cats. But that is not going to fly in NC. The way I understand it, I’ll have 30 days after I arrive to get my car registered and tested. I’ve done some searches trying to figure out how to get my car up to spec and so far I’ve gathered that some people pass with high flow cats while others do not. Also, I remember reading something on here years ago about how some AVCR settings can help you pass. Anyone have any more info on this? Does any one have any additional suggestions on how to make my car legal? I also am curious about how turbo upgrades with downpipes affect emissions testing. I’d really like to upgrade the turbos in the near future. Just to keep this nice and Z related, here is a picture of my beautiful Z that will be joining the Triangle Z club this fall.
